Overview
After years of research into potting mixes, analysing leaves and drainage, Canna has achieved in being the first to create a nutrient that is designed especially for the characteristics of cocos substrates. Canna coco is composed of high value minerals, it contains natural chelates, humic and fluvial acids and which give the plant optimum nutrient absorption.
Canna Coco nutrients are a two part formula which are separated parts for a reason. As it happens, if some of the elements in part A and B are thrown together at the same time, they clog together. The plant cannot absorb this. That’s why you should first add the A component and then the B component!

The Science
Canna Coco contains chelated forms of nutrients such as nitrogen which can be easily absorbed by your plant. Most growers know about the three major nutrients that plants need: potassium, phosphorus and nitrogen. But many novice growers don’t realise that plants also need other nutrients, like iron, zinc and magnesium. Because they are needed in relatively high quantities, potassium, phosphorus and nitrogen are referred to as macronutrients. Your plants need lower quantities of elements like iron, sulfur and calcium, so we refer to them as micronutrients. While they’re not needed in the same quantities as macronutrients, micronutrients are every bit as vital to your crop’s diet and healthy growth. The problem is that most of those necessary micronutrients are unavailable to your plants while in their basic form, because metals like iron and zinc have a positive charge, and the pores on your plants wherein the metals would enter have a negative charge. The positively charged micronutrients cannot enter through the negatively charged pores. When a chelate bonds to a micronutrient, it surrounds or encapsulates individual ions and gives them a negative or neutral charge, allowing the nutrient to enter through the negatively charged pore and travel into the plant’s tissues.
Frequently asked questions
What different kind of substrates are there to use for growing?
There are many different substrates and growing methods, which roughly can be classified into 4 groups. CANNA sells different nutrients specifically developed for these different substrates or methods. The four groups are CANNA TERRA (peat based mixtures), CANNA COCO (coco substrates) and for inert substrates CANNA HYDRO (run-to-waste) and CANNA AQUA (for recirculating systems).
What does A & B mean?
A & B together are the nutrients a plant needs. They are separated into a bottle of A and one of B to make the solutions as concentrated as possible. Always use A and B in equal amounts.
