A CalMag product is usually seen as a repair product for when you have a deficiency but Shogun Fertilisers see it as something different. Calcium and Magnesium are used by plants to improve nutrient uptake and translocation.
Quite simply CalMag by Shogun Fertilisers moves nutrients and essential elements around your plant quicker to achieve better results as the plants’ essential functions are helped to perform better. Shogun Fertilisers CalMag also contains iron which prevents yellowing of the leaves and nitrogen for increased chlorophyll production and plant strength.
Shogun Fertilisers CalMag can be used with your other nutrients and is recommended to be used alongside the other products in the Shogun Fertilisers range, in particular, PK Warrior 9/18 for optimum results.
This product is an additive and should be applied alongside your regular base nutrient, from the late vegetative stages right the way through the flowering stage. Stop using it before the final flush – generally 1-2 weeks before harvest time. Make up your base nutrient as, usual, add Shogun Calmag at a rate of 1ml per litre of solution, then adjust the pH so that it sits in range for your method of growing (generally around 5.8 in hydroponics and 6.5 for soil) and check your EC levels.
Shogun Calmag can also be applied as a foliar feed. Fill your sprayer, add 10-15ml of Calmag per litre of water and pH the solution to around 6.0. Spray directly onto leaves when the lights are off, leaving plenty of time for them to dry out before the lights switch back on again (otherwise you may risk burning). Do this once a week.
As with all nutrients, boosters and additives, never mix them together in their concentrated form (i.e. straight out of the bottle). Always add each nutrient, booster or additive to your reservoir or feed water, in turn, giving the solution a good stir to mix it in before adding the next one.
Conversions: 1 Teaspoon = 5mL | 1 Tablespoon = 15 mL | 1 Ounce = 30mL | 1 Cup = 240 mL
The team at Shogun set out with a simple, yet highly ambitious brief: to create the most effective nutrient range on the market for a price that’s affordable to every grower. It was a task that required extensive research and development, but after numerous side-by-side tests and detailed analysis of other leading plant nutrition products, they’ve managed to deliver a range that sits proudly alongside the very finest high-end nutrient lines, and at a fraction of the cost. Connoisseur growers often select flagship nutrients from various companies and combine them to create their ideal nutrient regimen. With Shogun, you can achieve the same effect by simply sticking to their complete range, knowing that each component product has been formulated to compete with the very best alternatives available.
Shogun Calmag is an additive that can be used alongside your base nutrient from the late vegetative stages, right through to the end of the flowering stage, just before the final flush. It contains nitrogen (2.6%), calcium (3.2%), magnesium (1.2%) and a trace amount of iron (0.1%). Magnesium is a vital component of chlorophyll, the green pigment that is essential to the process of photosynthesis. Chlorophyll works by capturing light energy, which is then used to synthesize carbohydrates (sugars that plants use for food) from co2 in the surrounding atmosphere and water drawn through roots. Without a healthy supply of magnesium, the process of photosynthesis will slow down to a crawl and the energy produced by your lighting system will be rendered much less effective.
Calcium helps to increase the thickness of cell walls and improves the transportation of nutrients between different areas of the plant, making the nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium in your base feed that much more effective. This, in turn, fortifies the overall plant-structure, leading to thicker stems and stronger branches, while promoting an all-round increase in vitality. These properties raise plants’ resistance to pests, diseases and negative environmental changes (such as unwanted temperature drops in cold weather).
Don’t be fooled into thinking that secondary nutrients are less important than primary macronutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. In fact, Liebig’s ‘law of the minimum’ dictates that your nutrient regimen is only as effective as the lowest limiting factor (i.e. the nutrient that your plants have the least of in relation to their needs). Without an adequate supply of calcium and magnesium, your plants will simply never reach their full potential. Supplementing with this product will help to avoid deficiencies and ensure that plants make the best use of every other essential nutrient.
“The products came very clean and sealed as they always do from GTP hydro. One thing I really like is the product is very clear and you don’t have to shake to get clumps out like other fertilizers or additives. It seems like it would have a very long shelf life because it is just pure vitamins without fertilizers like bat guano or anything that carries bacteria which leads to mold. It has a very light yellow color. I use Fox Farm normally so I will see if the results are good for my plants. Hasn’t had time to give a proper review only on appearance.”
“This is not my first time ordering this product. I can’t tell you how much I strongly recommend this “magic juice” for tomatoes. I tell all my friends about it. Shogun CalMag has tripled my tomatoes not only in quantity but quality as well. I’m now using it in all my potted plants and theyve doubled in size. 10/10 for product and price.”
“ Great juice love this stuff works fantastic NEVER had an issue highly recommend especially for the price and the great product fast delivery great service….most importantly my plants love this stuff fix any type issue if ever had…“
About Shogun Fertilisers
When it comes to feeding your plants and getting maximum performance and yield, we don’t like to cut any corners. SHOGUN Fertilisers was born out of a desire to create something special, something new for the hydroponics market. Not just another basic set of feeds, but something truly exceptional borne out of years of research, development and commercial application. We’re a UK company with a wealth of experience of what growers really want from their nutrients and additives and have created a range of products that combines exceptional performance with great value dilution rates.
Our current product range includes a series of additives as well as our newly released Hydro and Coco nutrients and we have plans to further expand this range as future products pass through our rigorous development and testing procedures.
There’s a world of difference between a basic NPK nutrient and the products we create. Sure we could have put a few basic mineral salts into a bottle, but that’s not what we’re about. Our products have to be better than what’s already available or we simply don’t release them. Our experience in commercial horticulture and our research led approach to product development means that our products are technically superior in almost every single way. Innovative developments such as SmartZen and AquaZen are simply light years ahead of anything else available and these are just a tiny part of our base nutrient! SmartZen is an amazing additive that improves plant performance by up to 8% over a standard NPK formula nutrient. AquaZen is an unbelievable additive found in our coco nutrients that actually slows down the flow of water through the media for superior media wetting, less waste and higher nutrient absorption potential. It is these kinds of innovations that set us apart and it is these kinds of developments that we are constantly striving to bring to our range.
