Overview
The PLANT!T® Dirt Pot offers value and versatility to all gardening enthusiasts. Made from porous breathable fabric, PLANT!T® Dirt Pots allow your plants to thrive, promote exceptional root health and vigorous plant growth. The soft-sided construction allows the planter to conform to your terrain, making them the perfect choice for all growing areas. The planters have reinforced seams and strength-tested fabric, so they will not tear when supporting even the heaviest crop.
Usage:
Simply fill the Dirt Pot with your favourite soil or soilless mix and place it where it is going to be used. Transfer your plant into it and water slowly and thoroughly. Remember that Dirt Pots are not rigid, so once a plant is growing in one be extra gentle and careful when moving it around to avoid disturbing or damaging the root-mass. Ideally, once a plant is in a Dirt Pot, leave it where it is as much as possible!

The Science
The Plant!t Dirt Pot Round is a circular growing container made of fabric which allows air to pass through, aerating plant roots and “air-pruning” them when they hit the sides/bottom of the pot. In a conventional pot, roots grow outwards from the plant and when they hit the side-wall they begin to spiral around it. This process is relatively inefficient as the root-system ends up being densest around the outside of the pot leaving much of the soil within the container devoid of any roots. Dirt Pots work in a very different way. Roots begin growing out from the plant as in a normal pot but when the roots try to grow through the fabric side or bottom they are “air-pruned”. This causes the plant to send out more and more root-shoots which fill out the soil with a full and dense root system.
What is air Pruning?
Air pruning is what happens naturally when a root tip comes in contact with air. Instead of probing further the tip dies, and more root branches grow to develop a fibrous mass. In conventional plastic pots cannabis plants, roots wrap themselves around the tiny gap between the medium and the plastic interior.
The roots grow long and continue searching for new fertile substrate instead of branching off. Roots will even burst through and cling to the holes at the bottom of plastic pots. They just keep on growing unless they are air pruned.
How will air pruning benefit my buds?
Air pruning will help you crop a heavier harvest. By encouraging a dense root mass in a well-draining oxygenated medium, your cannabis plants will explode with buds. Your plants will be able to handle larger volumes of nutrient solution and you won’t have to worry about root rot.
Best of all, by air pruning, you are really making the most of your medium. This is especially important if you have invested in premium pre-fertilised substrates or created your own super soil. Air pruned plants will access more of the nutrient-rich medium.
Instead of a few long spaghetti string roots, air pruned cannabis plants develop a root mass like a spiders web throughout the medium. A healthy robust root zone facilitates larger plant growth above ground and fatter flowers come harvest.
How to air prune
The act of air pruning your cannabis can be completely passive in most situations. As outlined, the roots tips die when coming into contact with air and the boost growth elsewhere. All you have to do is make that air available. This is done with air pruning pots — specialised plant pots that are designed for this exact purpose. What this means is that as long as you grow your cannabis in an air pruning pot that is appropriately sized for your cannabis, air pruning will happen automatically.
Testimonials
Joe:
“Excellent pots that I’ve used for years. They’re much cheaper, much more sturdy and made of much thicker fabric than other brands I’ve tried (Smartpots and Root Pouch). They also have handles AND slots to fit canes into. I bought these large ones to plant acid-loving berries in to keep them separate from my alkaline soil at home. Need more watering than normal pots, but so long as you remember that the plants flourish. You wont keep the square shape to them unless you line a few of them up flush to each other because being made of fabric they just fill out to more of a circle shape.”
Marian:
“Of all the pots I have, this one wins hands down. The plants just grew away and all had same feed etc., so this air pruning is great. I have also washed one and it is ready to go again in a few weeks. Great container to have!!. Thank you.”
SOOS:
“ These are great, I thought the fabric would defeat the slugs and snails but no, the little blighters climb up the sides. Now, if someone would invent a planter that stops these greedy things from eating plants, I’d be at the front of the queue. Till then I’ll continue to buy and use these great planters and keep using the slug pellets. I highly recommend, buy them.“
